Happy April Fools!

Google has changed in a big way this April 1st of 2010. In honor of Topeka Kansas changing it's name to Google, Google has changed it's name to TOPEKA!

This is a funny joke played by Google to get all of you gullible suckers into beliving that Google is Topeka. If this was true, the URL would have been changed by now as well, or even just temoralily for the joke.

Razer has also stunned gamers with a new product, Venom. They have devoloped two products that can bring us humans into zombie mode. FOR REAL. This will bring you into a whole new level of gaming, I like to called, Zoned-the-f**k-OUT! Or tuned in, like, down the billionth of percentage.

This is another hallarious joke upon others from different companies today. Razer went the distance and even included an ordering process.  If this is true however, god, help, us.

SPdif out

Aha, spdif out on the motherboard. You can create a bracket from it with high quality audio, or you can attach it to the video card. Problem with this is nearly none of the manufactures for video cards package their cards with the proper cable. I shall later post how to solve this problem, and how to go from any spdif to a 2 pin spdif on a graphics card. (Only on cards that support them, usually one's that support 1080i/p or have an hdmi socket/plug/adapter.) Also note that audio can travel through DVI to HDMI.

Alienware M11x

The Alienware M11x has been long awaited and has finally arrived, and will be shipping in March of this year (2010). When configuring this beast, you will see that the RAM speed in the Memory upgrade section, does not seem up to par on what it advertises on the M11x's homepage. This could be a mistake on Dells part, Or it could be shipping with DDR3 800 until more 1060 RAM becomes available. Also, the two processor options are almost identical. Both have same amount of transistors and cores and clock speed. Only difference is you'll be paying $100 more for 1 more MB of cache memory and virtualization from Intel.

Like other laptops from Alienware, this baby has fully customizable LED lights ALL over it. 

It sports a 1GB Geforce 335m video processor that runs at 1080Mhz core speed powered by Nvidia. That's almost that of the CPU! Also with proper settings, it should be able to get 8.5 Hours of battery life. Standard.  Yeah, that's pretty insane for a dual core gaming laptop. This high powered equipment starts at just $799, Yeah, the cheapest price Alienware has EVER made a laptop. After you start to upgrade things start to get very pricey. 

Hopefully i'll be able to get my hands on it, benchmark it, stress it, overclock it, and hack it up afterwards.

Also, this laptop has won multiple rewards such as Best of CES 2010 Gaming (Yes, that is a very big deal)

What could it be?

So, you've done everything you can do. It's still not working. One thing you should remember is the bios jumper. All you do is find the jumper that says "Cmos clr" next to it, pull it out of the two pins it's attached to, attach to the next to pins directly next to it for a few seconds, and put it back. This resets your bios and cmos to the original defaults. This will also mess up your time. I've gotten 3 computers to boot up XP when they couldn't before by doing this simple step.

Are you sure it's the motherboard?....

Remember, the motherboard can be a source of a lot of computer problems. With this in mind, a lot of support from companies will send you back your product after diagnostics saying the motherboard is bad. When you get someone saying that, check for yourself. Open the case and look inside, is there a lot of dust?... If that's the case, then you'll want to clean it out, like you should every 2-3 months depending on your environment. Shop computers should clean their computers every month. What was the problem with the computer? Not starting? No video?... Look for the true source of the problem before you check anything on the motherboard. If there's no video and you have onboard video, there is no fix for it, besides getting right drivers. You could install a video card into an available slot but there still could be other errors on the board. If your computer dosn't start up you should always assume the power supply is the source of the problem first. Look at it, does the fan spin up? Does the motherboard have a green light?... To test if it's the power supply you could get a paper clip and shove it from the green wire to the black wire next to it and see if the fan spins up... but for amateurs I don't recommend this.

Just all in all, make sure it really is the motherboard before you go buying something you don't need. You may have a power supply problem that'll cost you $20. Or you could have a CPU problem and save yourself $100 by not replacing the board. Always be sure of yourself before you make that final spending decision.
